Qatar Ambassador Highlights $2.5 Billion Trade Volume with Bangladesh

Qatar-Bangladesh bilateral trade reached $2.5 billion in 2023-2024, with Qatar exporting over $2 billion in commodities including natural gas.

Qatar's Ambassador to Bangladesh Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani expressed satisfaction with the deepening economic engagement between the two countries during a reception marking Qatar's National Day and 50 years of diplomatic relations on 17 December.

The bilateral relationship has strengthened considerably since diplomatic ties commenced five decades ago, underpinned by shared cultural, religious, and historical values. Qatar remains one of Bangladesh's leading suppliers of essential commodities, particularly natural gas.

Trade between the nations reached $2.5 billion during 2023-2024, comprising Qatari exports of over $2 billion and Bangladeshi imports to Qatar exceeding $31 million. Al-Qahtani emphasized Qatar's commitment to multilateral engagement with Bangladesh, signalling intentions to elevate Doha-Dhaka relations further. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul attended the reception as chief guest, alongside business leaders, civil society members, diplomats, and journalists.
