NSU and Russian House jointly host musical evening celebrating Bangladesh-Russia ties

North South University and Russian House mark Bangladesh Independence Day and Russia's Year of Unity through cultural programme.

North South University (NSU) and the Russian House in Dhaka organised a musical evening on April 9 to commemorate Bangladesh's Independence Day and Russia's Year of Unity of the Peoples.

The event, coordinated by NSU's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), drew over 800 students and faculty members. Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice chancellor of NSU, attended as chief guest and discussed Bangladesh-Russia bilateral relations and cooperation opportunities in education and research. Professor Halimur R. Khan, IQAC director, addressed the former Soviet Union's role during Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War and its cultural contributions.

The programme featured video presentations on Bangladesh-Russia relations and Russian education opportunities, followed by a musical performance by the Dhaka Melodiya Project. Alexandra Khlevnoy, director of the Russian House in Dhaka, highlighted scholarship programmes available to Bangladeshi students. The musical repertoire included works by Dmitri Shostakovich and Sergei Rachmaninoff alongside traditional Russian folk songs.
