Based on an official announcement by Dhaka Tribune.
DORP (Development Organisation of the Rural Poor) and Helvetas Bangladesh conducted a joint field visit to Morrelganj Upazila, Bagerhat on May 6-7, 2024, to assess climate adaptation projects addressing extreme salinity in water resources and community livelihoods.
The organisations implement sustainable development initiatives targeting climate-vulnerable communities in coastal Bangladesh. The partnership focuses on building resilience through improved water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure in regions facing acute environmental challenges.
The delegation included Rene Holenstein (Helvetas Board Member), Benjamin Blumenthal (Country Director, Helvetas Bangladesh), Mohammad Zobair Hasan (Deputy Executive Director, DORP), and other senior officials. During the visit, representatives engaged directly with local residents to understand barriers to accessing clean water and sanitation facilities, then evaluated ongoing initiatives designed to strengthen community resilience and quality of life.
