City Bank PLC reported its highest-ever annual profit of Tk 1,324 crore in 2025, representing 31% growth from Tk 1,014 crore in 2024.
The bank strengthened its market position through disciplined cost management and prudent risk practices despite a challenging economic environment. On a standalone basis, City Bank earned Tk 1,306 crore, with its four subsidiaries contributing Tk 18 crore in net profit.
Interest income from loans grew 24% to Tk 5,452 crore from Tk 4,403 crore. The bank improved its non-performing loan ratio to 2.5% at year-end 2025 from 3.7% previously. City Bank maintained deposit costs at 5.5% while offsetting higher borrowing costs through strategic investments in high-yield government securities, which contributed 26% to total operating income of Tk 4,888 crore. The bank also recorded the highest trade business volume among local banks at USD 8.01 billion.
